I want to start out by saying thank you Continue reading “Why I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day”
I have been in complete shock over the responses about the women’s march. Continue reading “Why Women March”
By now most of you know a decent bit about me. Continue reading ““This is me pretending””
I have seen more slut shamming this past week than I’d like to admit. Words cannot express how angry that makes me. I tried to write it out yesterday but it was all just jumbled words and thoughts that didn’t really make sense. I often wonder how different things would be if it were men who were shamed for their desire to have sex. Not that I’d wish that on anyone. And then I saw this… Continue reading ““Be proud of who you are, and not ashamed of how someone else sees you.””
I recently read an article about how we create these fake personas on social media. Of course this is true but there are different reasons for it. My reason is that I don’t feel the need to air all of my dirty laundry out there for the world to see. What I put on social media is (in some way) who I am or what I believe in or agree with. Of course my life isn’t perfect and it’d be ignorant to think anyone’s life is based off of a social media account. Continue reading ““Don’t be embarrassed by who you are. They’re going to judge you no matter what you do.””
I am heartbroken over seeing this country tear itself apart. We don’t need terrorist to do that for us when we are doing such a great job at it ourselves. Somehow, we’ve got this all backwards. We lost the meaning of life, of loving each other and of helping each other. We are so consumed in our own bitterness to care about anyone else and it’s so, so sad. Continue reading “Where is the love?”
I’m a woman.
“You’re not lady like. You’re too girly. You can’t play sports. You can’t like video games. You’re too pale. You shouldn’t get your hands dirty. You should be in the kitchen. You have to have a child, it’s your job. You can’t just have one child, you need another one. You can’t wear men’s clothes. You can’t wear that, it shows too much. Your hair is too short. You can’t drive. You can’t actually be just friends with a male. No man will want you with your reputation. You’re just here for amusement. You’ll just get used again because you’re trash.” Continue reading ““Strong people define themselves; weak people allow others to define them.””
I started calling myself a feminist a few years ago. A few events in my life led me to believe that there is still very much a need for it. Sometimes we have to experience things for ourselves to really understand why it exists. I hate that we have gotten such a bad rep because of a few extremist that don’t fully understand why we believe what we do. Being a feminist is not supposed to be about hating men, or being better. It’s about wanting to be viewed as an equal. It’s about having a choice. Everyone is different and I don’t expect everyone to agree with my views. I am using this article to address some things that I’ve heard people say as to why we don’t need feminist and respond with why we really do. Continue reading “This is why I fight for Equality”
